The North Dakota Industrial Commission (Commission) has approved $500,000 in Renewable Energy Program funds to Packet Digital, Fargo, for a project to enhance the design of a portable solar power generation system for military and commercial applications. This project will simplify the manufacturing and assembly of the portable solar power units as well as achieve compliance certifications.

North Dakota will need significantly more power generation in the next 20 years as electricity consumption is projected to increase by up to 70 percent, driven largely by continued expansion of oil and gas activity in western North Dakota, according to a new Power Forecast 19 (PF19) completed by Barr Engineering.

The North Dakota Industrial Commission has approved $500,000 in Renewable Energy Program funds to Hankinson Renewable Energy (HRE) for the installation of a Stack Heat Recovery (SHR) system. This technology will capture excess heat energy released from the plant’s dryer exhaust stack and recycle the heat back into the production process. In addition, the system will collect water condensation from the dryer exhaust stack for use in the plant operations. The project is expected to increase ethanol production at HRE by an estimated 10 million gallons per year.
